Beryl’s funny-flowers-glyph

Whitney and Professor Damien were walking down a path in the gardens of the academy, heavily engaged in a discussion over the French Revolution and the storm of the Bastille 11 July 1789.

“As I said before, Professor. Without the preceding famine amongst the poor people, the third estate would never have been able to gather the courage to actually face the nobility and the clergy. Additionally I believe that some of the spoiled food the peasants were forced to eat in their despair actually carried a form of mold fungus that had hallucinating effects on their brains. Their courage bolstered by this, the peasants took to arms and gathered in front of the Bastille. Without the famine they would never have done so and maybe the French Revolution would have never happened.”

“That’s most certainly an interesting theory, Whitney.” Professor Damien answered. “However, I believe that-“ He was interrupted by someone skipping into him all of the sudden.

“Upsi, Proffesorsi~ I did not watch where I was going. Lots of apowogies~”

Instinctively Whitney growled, however at the same time she made a confused face. “Aarina…? What are you doing here…”

“It’s such a pwettifull day and me and spider-buddy wanted to have some funsies around~ Do you wanna come to, little doggy?” Aarina giggled heavily and embraced Whitney. Her usually dark attire was completely pink with lots of ribbons and fluffy parts.

“Wha-what…?” Whitney stuttered, unable to comprehend what was going on.

“Aww, come on… itsie going to be funsies~” Aarina pouted.

“N-no… I… what the hell is wrong with you?” Whitney almost shouted the last sentence.

“You’re a real buzzkill, doggy…” Aarina grumbled, before spinning off with her spider, humming cheery melodies to herself.

“What by all angels and demons was that?!” Whitney exclaimed, as Aarina was out of sight behind a bush.

Professor Damien merely shook his head. “I have no idea…”

After her encounter with Whitney, Aarina skipped onward all the time spinning and smiling. After a while she started feeling a little sick and stopped close to a large tree. “Oww… my headsie hurts… must’ve been too much sun…” She grumbled, before setting off towards the main building. “Oh, I knowsies what to do~” She grabbed a branch that had broken down from the tree and quickly encased it in glowing white and pink threads. “This should keep the meansie sun out~"

Shaded by her makeshift parasol, Aarina continued her way through the gardens, occasionally stopping to smell some flowers.

A little further away, she suddenly spotted three figures sitting around a small pond. Silently, Aarina slipped into the bushes and crept closer, the little spider on her shoulder trembling in excitement.

“What a beautiful day.” Arreshi sighed, as she stretched herself in the warm rays of the sun.

“You’re damn right.” Batibat said. “This is the nicest day in a long time. Though it’s a little bit too warm for my taste.”

“You know what we should do?” Majoria asked.

Her two friends turned towards her, questioning looks on their faces. “Let’s go down to the river and take a-“

“SUPWISIES~” Aarina yelled, while jumping amongst them and tackling Majoria to the ground.

“WHAAA!!!” The witch screamed, before both of them toppled over and fell backwards into the small pond.

“Majoria!” Batibat and Arreshi screamed in unison, as their friend and Aarina vanished underwater.

A few seconds later they both resurfaced again, heavily spitting water. “What the hell is wrong with you?!” Majoria yelled angrily and drew a large sword from her mana-void.

“I thought you wanted to cool offsies…” Aarina pouted.

“W-wait… A-Aarina…?” Batibat stuttered, dropping her demon shards.

“What h-happened…?” Arreshi stuttered.

“Y-you… why…” Majoria couldn’t grasp what was going on. To her Aarina had always been the woman in the shadows that hated her for some unknown reason. The woman that almost never went out into the sun and preferred the company of her spider-pet over anyone else. And now she was sitting in front of her wearing a pink, fluffy dress and smiling uncontrollably.

“Is something wrong?” Aarina asked. “You look so bleaksy… Did you get the sickies?”

“Wha-wha-what…?” Majoria stuttered.

“Mowgana should check if you’re alrightsies.”

“N-no… what… what the hell happened to you…?”

“To me?” Aarina made a confused face. “I don’t knowsies what you’re talking about… can’t I go out for a walk with spider-buddy when I want?”

Majoria and her friends simply stared dumbfounded at Aarina, while she climbed out of the pond, shook herself and skipped away. “Don’t forget to go to the nursie-office~ It won’t hurt you, I pwomise~!” She shouted, just before disappearing behind a few rose scrubs.

***

Later that day, after the effects of Beryl’s pretty-flower-glyph had worn off and Aarina had come to her senses, she hid in the basement of the academy, trying to avoid bumping into anyone. After the glyph’s effects had worn of, she had ripped the pink dress to pieces in a fit of rage, before becoming aware that several other students were watching her. Afterwards she had fled into the basement, all the time cursing Beryl to hell and beyond. “That blasted cat-girl!” She muttered, before pulverizing a stack of old crates with her magic to vent of her anger. I helped nothing. “She made an utter fool out of me. Now I’ll be the laughing stock of the academy.” Another stack of crates crumbled to dust. “Grrr that goddamn kitten! I will get her back for this… I will make her suffer for what she has done…”
So, as promised :icongoodkittynyanchan: I wrote your assignment. Though I'll tell you in advance, Aarina is NOT happy with both of us and I will probably suffer severly for what Beryl did to her -.-"
Anyway, I hope you like it.

Note: This took place before the academy closed and is a direct follow-up to this story fav.me/d7fwuta by :icongoodkittynyanchan:. I just didn't have the time (and motivation) to complete it earlier, so apologies for that.
